B.Com - Information Technology

The Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology is a much-sought-after undergraduate programme. Employers value graduates who demonstrate skills and knowledge in both business and information technology domains and the management thereof. The aim of the programme is to create graduates who are able to offer and manage business solutions through information supported technology

Students are exposed to the design and development of systems and engage in solving real-life problems and implement and continually adapt these systems to changing organisational needs. This programme enables students to become professionals in their fields providing them the perfect opportunity to pursue and succeed in their postgraduate studies.

At the completion of the program, students should be able to:

  • Understand the concepts, processes and procedures relevant to public and private organizations
  • Identify and evaluate the environments within which commerce is conducted
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the principles of accounting, finance and information technology
  • Identify information needs appropriate to their area of specialization and apply the techniques required to gather and interpret such information
  • Identify, analyze and solve problems in two or more areas of commerce by selecting and using either quantitative or qualitative techniques appropriate to the resolution of business problems
  • Satisfy academic admission requirements for membership of relevant professional bodies
  • Work as a professional within commerce or information technology arenas and act within the ethics of the profession
  • Get selected for a wide range of employment opportunities including financial analyst, financial planner, investment banker, financial accountant, forensic accountant, stockbroker, small business manager, IS developer, IT manager, IT auditor
