DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM

One day National level Technical Symposium:

e-spark 2010,
The department of Electronics and Communication Systems had organized a one day National level Technical Symposium e-spark 2010, on 29th January 2010 in the AJK  College of Arts and Science. Mr. P. Manikandan, Technical Director, EM NANO Technologies, Coimbatore was the chief guest for the occasion. Tmt. Bindu Ajeet, Trustee, AJK College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore presided over the function. A total of 250 Students from various colleges in and around Coimbatore submitted e-design, projects and presented technical papers. The chief guest gave valuable information's regarding embedded technology in software and hardware and also emphasized the scope in the same field.

DEPARTMENT OF COSTUME Design and Fashion

The department of Costume Design and Fashion conducted a seminar on 12th September on “Career Opportunities in Fashion Industry”. Mr.Senthil Nathan was the chief guest.'

A two-day workshop was conducted during 24-25 September on “Fashion Illustration.” The chief guest Mr. A. Z. Ranjith, Chairman, A.Z.R. Painters Club, Chennai, shared the details about fashion figures and features.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

1.The department of Computer Applications conducted a seminar on "Recent Trends in Computing Ttechnology" on 7 August 2009.The chief guest Mr.Pradeep Kumar CEO of Amphisoft Technology has shared his views on the latest trends of software technology.

2. Seminar conducted on the soft skills by Mr.Ravindran Heromindmine on 12th September 2009.

3. A one day seminar on "DOT NET FRAME" was conducted on 30 September 2009.The chief guest was Mr.S.Dhanaraj from Software Solution System, Coimbatore.

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The department of Information Technology conducted a seminar on “Industry Overview and Expectation” on 6th September 2009.The chief guest was Mr.C.Sunil Kumar, HR of COGNIZANT TECHNOLOGIES, coimbatore. The seminar created a strong will power and confidence among students to prepare for the interview.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

The department of Computer Science conducted a one day seminar on “INTRODUCTION TO DOT NET FRAME WORKS AND CURRENT IT SCENARIO” on 25th August 2009. The chief guest was Mr.Vijayakrishnan, Honey Nasies, and Abdhul Kader Jeelani of majestic technologies technical team.

SUGAR AND SPICE -  2010

Sugar N Spice, an intercollegiate competition  for Hotel Management and Catering Course students was conducted in our college on 13th February 2009. This event provided the students a platform for displaying their individual skills and techniques and also motivated the students to highlight their talents through their culinary skills.

NEW YEAR 2010

AJK College of Arts and Science organized a Non Alcoholic New Year Eve Celebrations “That’s d Spirit” on 31st Dec, 2009 from 9.00 pm onwards at the company owned Bharath Petroleum Bunk, Palakkad Main Road,Madukkarai,Coimbatore.The event is organized to give the students an opportunity to manage and prepare for events. This event also highlighted the infrastructure and Tourism Spot of Coimbatore District. The World Tamil Conference that is to be conducted in Coimbatore was also highlighted as part of the 2010 achievements. As part of the New Year Eve Celebrations there was an exotic spread of a variety of Veg. and Non-Veg dishes with a Salad Counter. Games for Couples, Children and other games were also the eye catching part of the program. A dance Show and other variety of entertainments were also presented.

INTERNATIONAL CHEFS DAY 2009

The school of hotel management and catering science students organized a chefs government women’s polytechnic to V.O.C park celebrate the international chefs day on 18th October 2009.The objective of the rally was to create the awareness about the organic food.

SPLURGE 2009

Splurge 2009 was a seminar that was held on various mocktails.The function also had a tea tasting and coffee tasting. It was held on 29th September 2009.

SEMINAR ON SPIRITS AND LIQUEURS

This was a seminar that was held on 5th September 2009.The chief guest for the function was Mr.Nabendu Acharjee,Learning and Development Manager,Taj Corammendal,Chennai.The seminar focused on the various spirits and liquors that are being used in the hotel industry.

WORKSHOP ON KASHMIRI PANDIT CUSINE

There was a one-day workshop conducted on the Kashmiri Pandit food on 7th September 2009.The chief guest for the workshop was Ms.Suman Kaur.In this workshop event, the students got a chance to learn the various dishes from Kashmiri Pandit food.

GOURMET KITCHEN - 2010

THAI FOOD FESTIVAL – 7TH MARCH, 2010 AT PRASANNA LAKSHMI KALYANAMANDAPAM, PALAKKAD
The School of Hotel Management and Catering Science of AJK College of Arts & Science Coimbatore will be organizing its second food festival, Gourmet Kitchen on the 7th March, 2010 at Prasanna Lakshmi Kalyana Mandapam from 6.00 pm to 10.30 pm. The highlight of this programme is to enable the students to understand as to how to organize and manage a food festival of this kind. The students would also get a chance to interact with the hoteliers, which would help them in their placements and their training. Eminent personalities from the Hospitality & Tourism Industry will be the participating in this food festival.

GOURMET KITCHEN 2009

School of Hotel Management and Catering Science, AJK College of Arts and Science conducted their first “Gourmet Kitchen 2009”, a fantasy ride to Asian food carnival on 1st March 2009 at Prasanna Lakshmi Kalyana Mandapam , Palakkad. Eminent Personalities from Hospitality and Tourism Industry took part in the event.
This event is organized to give exposure to the Hotel Management students on how to organize and cook for the events. This would also give an opportunity for the hoteliers to interact with our students as this would help them in their training and placements.

COLLEGE DAY

The college day celebration was held on 28th march 2009.Thiru.Pramod Kumar, IPS inspector general of police, Coimbatore was the chief guest. Awards were presented for the Best Academic performance, 100% Attendance and the Best student of the year. The guest of honor was Dr.T.Veluchamy Principal Dr.S.N.S.Rajalakshmi college of Arts and Science. Dr.R.S.Lalmohan Trustee gave the presidential address and Mr.Ajeet Kumar Lal Mohan, Secretary and Managing Trustee welcomed the gathering. Dr.P.V.Balasubramanian, Principal gave the annual report.

MIRACLE - 2010

“Miracle 2010” the Second Inter collegiate south Indian cultural fest, a mega event of AJK College of Arts and Science was held on 25th and 26th February 2010 in the college premises. Around 50 colleges with a total of 400 students from various place of South India took part in various competitions. There were totally twenty events like Group Dance, Solo Song, Mimicry, Mime, Hair dressing, T shirt painting, Adapt Tune, Rangoli, Face Painting, Group Song, Solo Dance, Bride and Groom of India, Mehandi, Cookery, Poster designing, Vegetable Carving, Pen Sketching and Dumb Charades. The active participation of the students added colours to the event and made this a miraculous event in the history of AJK. Attractive Cash prices was awarded to the first three places and certificates were distributed to all the winners of the competitions. An overall champion trophy and a runner up cup were also given.

X’MAS 2009

AJK College of Arts and Science celebrated “Christmas Celebration 2009” on 23rd December 2009.Joy was in the air as students of various departments took the stage to showcase their talents.

ONE DAY STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP

The department of B.Sc. IT, BCA and CS combined together and organized a one day State level workshop on 6th October 2009 on “Object Analysis and Design”. The chief guest was Mr. Robert Dickenson, director of product operation, Navaget, INC-Newyork, United States of America. The workshop focused on the Python software with OOPS Concept.

ONAM 2009

Onam the traditional regional festival of kerala was celebrated in a grand manner on 29th August in the college campus. A Colourful Procession caparisoned elephant, Traditional umbrellas along with a singarimelam from chavadi to navakkarai brought forth the portrait of kerala.

Inauguration of the College Main Building & Placement Offer Letters to Final Years

The inauguration of the College Main building of AJK College of Arts & Science was held at the college campus on 24th January, 2010 at 10 am. The honorable deputy chief minister Dr.M.K.Stalin inaugurated the main college building and opened the stone plate. He also planted a sapling to mark the event. More pics..

Dr.P.V.Balasubramanian, Principal, AJK College of Arts and Science, proposed vote of thanks.
