The Indian government ushered in the new millennium by proclaiming 2001 as "Women's Empowerment Year," to focus on a future "where women are equal partners with men." The right to exert complete autonomy of one's acts is the most traditional definition of 'women's empowerment.' The status and role of women in our society have changed dramatically over the past few decades. Economic methods have shifted from the notion of 'welfare' in the 1970s to 'growth' in the 1980s, and now to ‘empowerment' in the 1990s.

This trend has been exacerbated with certain groups of women becoming particularly aware of their oppression in various aspects of family and public life. They will also mobilize themselves on topics that could affect their overall status. There is no question that since independence, women's advancement has always been at the forefront of planning. Empowerment is a significant step in this direction, but it must be seen in the light of relationships. To overcome the barriers to women's empowerment, both from the viewpoint of government and from the perspective of women themselves, a strong vision is needed. Efforts should be geared toward the overall advancement of Indian women by ensuring that they are given their fair share.

The college has the Women Empowerment Cell with the aim of empowering women and raising consciousness about their rights. In our college, women make up about 62% of the faculty
