The Department of Management Studies and the Consumer Club at AJK College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore (Autonomous), an A+ accredited institution by NAAC, recently organized an insightful seminar titled "Navigating the Digital World: A Consumer Perspective." Held on August 19, 2024, this event was designed to provide students with essential knowledge of consumer rights and the Consumer Protection Act, critical for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The seminar featured two distinguished speakers, Mr. C.M. Jayaraman, President, and Mr. M.M. Rajendran, Secretary, both from Citizens Voice, Coimbatore. Dr. Umamaheswari, Head of the Department of Management Studies, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for an in-depth exploration of consumer protection

Mr. Jayaraman's presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the Consumer Protection Act, focusing on how businesses must address the needs and complaints of their customers. He used real-world cases to illustrate the significance of consumer rights in today’s digital age. Mr. Rajendran followed with a motivational speech, encouraging students to be aware of and advocate for consumer rights, which is a vital aspect of responsible business management.

The seminar was attended by students from the first, second, and third-year BBA CA programs, who actively participated in the discussions. The session was highly informative, providing students with practical knowledge about how organizations should handle consumer issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and legal compliance.

Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. The students found the seminar to be both educational and engaging, leaving them with a better understanding of their responsibilities as future business leaders in protecting consumer rights. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. A. Kadar Mohideen, Assistant Professor, who appreciated the resource persons for their valuable contributions.
