FDP – IMPLEMENTATION OF AUTONOMY
The Internal Quality Assurance cell of AJK College of Arts and Science conducted a Seven Day Faculty Development Program on “Implementation of Autonomy”,from 03-07-2023 to 09-07-2023. Nine eminent speakers from various parts of India were invited to share their wisdom and knowledge on the topic. Prof. Dr.Ajeet Kumar Lal Mohan, Chairman and Secretary of AJKCAS presided over the function.
The chief guest of the inaugural session was Dr.B.Sampath Kumar, Former Principal, of PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore discussed his views on the theme of need and importance of autonomy, statutory and non-statutory bodies in HEI. The second-day speaker Dr.K.Vidyakala, AP & Head, Department of Business Administration, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women. She exclusively discussed the formation of BoS for all programs, academic councils and governing bodies and designing curricula. She encouraged all faculties to prepare a scheme to structure UG and PG programs.
On the third day of FDP, the speaker was Dr.J.Balavijayalakshmi, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physics, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women. She explained the measuring attainment of learning outcomes and the significance of the OBE framework and mapping of CLO and PLO. In the afternoon session, she narrated the learner centrism with clear explanations about pedagogy, andragogy and pedagogy.
The fourth day of FDP was graced by Dr.V.Vijayakumar, CoE, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science. He talked about the autonomous regulations and examination systems in an autonomous institution and he shared very useful strategies to improve the curriculum, teaching-learning process and assessments. Following this, the speaker Mrs.S.Subanya, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women discussed a topic in technology integration in the curriculum. She has shown the practical implications of AI tools used in content creation, delivery and assessments.
The key speaker on the fifth day of the FDP, Dr.Latha Parameswaran, Director, Computational Sciences, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women briefed on framing question papers based on CLO and designing assessment patterns based on Rubrics.
The sixth-day speaker was Dr.Savitha Nair, Dean, GRGSMS, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, she discussed the topic of Pedagogical Approaches. She discussed in detail various pedagogical approaches like flipped, activity/project-based and experiment/demonstration.
The last day of the FDP covered Research, Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Community Engagement by Dr.P.B.Harathi, Vice Principal, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women.
The valedictory session by resource person Dr.Sheela Ramachandran, Pro-Chancellor, Atmiya University, Gujarat, discussed the topic of Autonomous Status – A Pathway to transformative education. After the expert lecture, she summed up the transition from traditional education to a transformational educational system for the new generation.
